EZE IGBO GHANA CUP LAUNCH IN ACCRA

The maiden edition of the Eze Igbo Ghana Cup has been launched at Medina in the La Nkwantanang District in the Greater Accra region of Ghana to foster unity among Nigerians in Ghana.

The launch which also coincide with the outdooring of Obi Igbo Ghana Youth football Club of Madina saw a lot of dignitaries gracing the occasion.

Speaking at the colorful ceremony, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Ambassador Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, King of the Igbo’s in Ghana said the Eze Igbo Ghana Cup will be an annual event where teams formed by Igbo youth groups across the length and breadth of Ghana will compete for the converted trophy during the celebration of the New Yam Festival.

According to the Traditional Ruler, the rationale behind the Eze Igbo Ghana Cup is for the promotion of Igbo Tradition and culture in Ghana.

The competition which kicks start in the 3rd week of September 2022 will see the winners taking home the trophy with a cash amount of GHS10,000 while the Runer up and the Second Runner up take home 5,000 and 2,000 respectively.

Speaking to this reporter, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Ambassador Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu called on Nigerians especially Igbo Youth leaving in Ghana to always abide by the Rules and laws of Ghana

On his part, Chief Aniekwe Obiorah(Onowu Na Medina) Organiser of the Eze Igbo Ghana Cup said Madina Igbo youth took it upon themselves to bring all the youth of Igbo’s in various regions of Ghana together through football because football is a tiny object that brings the whole world together.

He, therefore, called on all the youth of Igbo’s in all parts of Ghana to toll the line of Obi Igbo Ghana Youth football Club of Madina to create their own football teams which will make the Igbo youth competition in Ghana great.

Onowu Na Madina called on all Igbo youth across the length and breadth of Ghana to support His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Ambassador Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu and his council of Elders of the Obi Igbo to lift up their tradition and culture together in Ghana and make their people back home in Nigeria proud.
