Members of the National Democratic Congress have embarked on a demonstration to reject the outcome of the 2020 polls in Kasoa.
The march which started from the constituency party office lasted for several hours on Tuesday morning ended peacefully without any incident.
There was heavy police presence as the constituency executives marched together with party faithfuls through the Central Business District and some selected routes within the municipality.
Addressing the party supporters, the various speakers rejected the results of the 2020 presidential elections as declared by the electoral commission chairperson, Jean Mensah.
Chairman of the constituency, Stephen Ofosu Agyare whilst addressing the crowd charged them to be peaceful even as the party rejects the results.
“It is an established fact that John Mahama and NDC won the elections. It is also of public knowledge that Jean Mensah has stolen the verdict in favor of Akufo Addo, but I’d urge all of us to demonstrate peacefully as the party hierarchy move to ensure that the right things are been done” he said.
He also thanked the security officers and urged them to ensure that the will of the people are maintained.
“We thank the police service for exercising their duty professionally this morning. They even outnumber we the demonstrators but we know that perhaps they have also come to demonstrate because they have been deceived by Akufo Addo since the increment he promised them ahead of the elections has been withdrawn” he mentioned.
Youth organizer of the party, Nana Bamfoe also mentioned that the party will be organising such demonstrations every five days within the Kasoa constituency.
At his turn, the constituency communications officer, Stephen Delali, seized the opportunity to call on the National Peace Council to rather channel their energy on calling on the Electoral Commission to do the needful by calling the true results of the elections.
He mentioned that the NDC has a straight majority in Parliament since the party is pursuing the Techiman South, Zabzugu, Tarkwa Nsuaem parliamentary seats as well.
On his part, the former MCE for Kasoa, Dr Alhaji Nuhu Adams called on President Akufo Addo to exhibit his acclaimed human rights activist and a lover of democracy by calling on the electoral body to do the right thing by calling the true figures of the ended polls.
Meanwhile, constituency secretary of the party, Amadu Tuariq, hinted that the NDC will by the close of Tuesday file a suit at the Supreme Court to challenge the results declared by the Electoral Commission.
The National Democratic Congress has failed to accept the results of the 2020 presidential polls as declared by the electoral commission.
Members of the party since the declaration have embarked on several demonstrations around the country to protest the results.
