The campaign team of the member of Parliament, also the parliamentary candidate for the ruling NPP at Awutu Senya East constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, has allegedly beaten a young boy for holding the party flag of NDC.
Narrating his story on Pink Fm’s socio-political show, “Nokore no nie” hosted by Ghanamanwofaase Akwasi Addo, Joseph Opoku said he was part of a group of people constructing a road network within Kasoa when a group of NDC members passed by.
After the NDC members passed by he saw one of their flags and some flyers of the NDC parliamentary candidate of the Awutu Senya East constituency on the floor.
Thinking it was an important document, he decided to keep it and hand it over to them incase they come back.
According to him, whiles he was reading what was on the flyer, an unknown person in his car called him to question him about what he was doing with the flag and flyers at the site which he explained.
He added that after few minutes, about four V8 cars came to the site and when a fair woman and some macho men came out of the cars, the fair woman called her after someone pointed at him.
“When I went to her, she asked me what was in my bag, but since I didn’t know about what she was talking about, I said there is nothing in my bag. When she order one of the machomen to collect the bag from me, someone slapped me from behind.
When they saw the flag and flyers in my bag, they started beating me” he narrated.
RESPONDS FROM THE NPP
In responds the the allegations made by Joseph Opoku, the MCE of Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Micheal Esuman Mensah said he was there with Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson and her campaign team members who confronted Joseph Opoku.
According to him, they had an information that instead of working, the young man hosted the flag of the NDC and moving up and down telling people the road is been constructed by the NDC.
He was beaten by the NPP members living around but not the campaign team members of Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson.
On the other hand, the host of the show, Ghanamanwofaase Akwasi Addo siad when he heard the issue, he went to the site to talk to the forman who also narrated his part of the story just as Joseph Opoku said.
He added that the forman also alleged that he was also given a dirty slap.
