A member of the NDC national ZONGO caucus working committee, Hadji Mustaphar has called on the Parliament of Ghana to pass a tribal discrimination law.

In a statement he released on Monday 8th June 2020, he said politicians are playing games with tribal sentiments and as a country we are sitting on time Bomb

He added that, the current government and party officials who have openly championed tribalism have not been publicly sanctioned by the party or relieved of their duties by the President.

READ STATEMENT BELOW

I suggest we must as a matter of agency add or criminalize tribal discrimination which will help prohibit hate speeches directed against any group of persons or people in ghana be it ethnic minority or ethnic majority.

The offense should carry a custodial sentence as punishment or an amount of money as fine.

The rate in which we are being governed will only divide us.
Politicians are playing games with tribal sentiments and as a country we are sitting on time Bomb.

Ironically, the current government and party officials who have openly championed tribalism have not been publicly sanctioned by the party or relieved of their duties by the President.

To date, there are many of them who still continue to serve under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo as cabinet ministers.

“if this is not hypocrisy on the part of the President in as far as fighting tribalism is concerned, then what is it? As I can strongly stand for the national Democratic Congress (NDC), we hold the view that tribalism is encouraged and promoted as an official policy for political mobilization under this NPP regime. We believe that it is for this reason that we now see even traditional leaders from the same region openly promoting tribalism in the name of speaking to their subjects. This is unacceptable”

Tribalism is not only archaic and uncivilized, it must also be unconstitutional and a precursor to civil instability.
Tribalism is retrogressive and must not have a place in a democratic dispensation in the nation Ghana .

Ghanaians must demand from the current President rise to the occasion and show resolute leadership by relieving any minister or politician who engages in tribal talk and parliament must also rise to the occasion by criminalising the act.
With this stiff messures in place then we are safe us a country one people with common destiny.
All politicians and thier verious Polical parties must have national character and promote unity.

Tribalism is a form of discrimination and its manifestation as a means for political mobilization must be condemned.
I am calling on all Ghanaians to see divisive politicians championing tribalism for who they are; a danger to themselves and society as they are desperate and morally bankrupt.

I call on all Ghanaians across the political and ethnic divide to stand up, reject and call out politicians who thrive on tribal propaganda as a means of canvasing votes.

Ghanaians must demand from the current President and rise to the occasion and show resolute leadership by relieving any minister or politician who engages in tribal talk and parliament must also rise to the occasion by criminalising the act.

With this stiff measures in place then we are safe as a country with one common destiny.

All politicians and their various political parties must have a national character and promote unity.
