The women organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw has admonished President Akufo Addo to apologies to all Ghanaian women   especially his mother at her grave yard over his unfortunate comments about Ghanaian women at the women empowerment conference “Women Deliver 2019” held in Canada.

Addressing the press at a press conference organized by the women wing of the NDC at their national headquarters, the former Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture said the President has disgraced Ghanaians including his late mother and wife therefore there is the  need to put his pride aside, go on his knees and apologies.

According to her, the President having that huge opportunity could have talked about his effort to empower women as a gender advocate but chose to disgrace himself, his late mother, wife and the entire nation as the international media has held on to his unfortunate comments.

She added that, President Akufo Addo’s comments showed clearly that he was clueless, uninformed and displayed next to no knowledge about the subject of discussion.

“Women in this country are very disappointed in him, even in his government, he appointed a lot of women. Then that appointment means nothing to him as a President which is why he made such a disgraceful comment,” she cried.

She further stated that, President Akufo Addo talking about his women empowerment tools said the free SHS and the double track system was to empower women and also lied about 30% of his cabinet being women. But their investigations have revealed that out of his 19 member cabinet, only 5 are women representing 26% not 30%.

“We are not seeing enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who are seeking. I am talking about dynamism where it matters…electing people to Parliament, controlling political parties because they are the instruments by which our societies make decisions,” he said.

The President in his contribution at the Conference in Canada, said he is yet to see dynamism in Ghanaian women.
