OFFER DEMURRAGE FREE TO GOODS WHICH WAS LOCKED DURING THE LOCK DOWN PERIOD – SPARE PARTS DEALERS TELL GOV’T

The National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association of Ghana has called on the government to to offer demurrage free to goods which was locked during the lockdown period.

In a statement released on Sunday 19th April 2020, the association said Due to the lockdown , there have been delays in clearing of their goods and the payment of demurrage has been accumulated which has become more expensive than the duties due to the closure of the ports and harbours.

NATIONAL CONCERNED SPARE PARTS DEALERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA

PLEASE CUT OFF DEMURRAGE AND RENT COST FOR US ,MR PRESIDENT.

We are commending government for the conscious efforts of making the ordinary Ghanaian comfortable in this trying times, thus reduction of electricity Bill’s and free delivery of water for three months.

We the National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association are appealing to government to offer demurrage free to goods which was locked during the lockdown period.

Due to the lockdown , there have been delays in clearing of our goods and the payment of demurrage has been accumulated which has become more expensive than the duties due to the closure of the ports and harbours.

Mr President, we are calling on you to please cut off the demurrage and rent of where are goods were kept the harbours during the lockdown Period.

The maintenance of the high cost of demurrage and rent will incur more hardship on us after the COVID-19 is been defeated.

The cost in reality will directly affect the ordinary Ghanaian as the prices of goods and services will rise.
