An advice has been going to Ghanaians especially Pregnant women to be more conscious of the Hepatitis B virus from the Western North Regional Health Promotion Officer, Mr Abubakari Abudardai.
“Hepatitis B is Chronic and can be transmitted from mother to child when conceived, so pregnant women should attend hospital regular to check their status on the virus,” he said.
Mr Abubakari Abudardai was been interviewed by Pollo Esposito on Day-Break De-Beat (DBDB), following the World Hepatitis Day cerebrated 28th July every year explained that Ghana is focusing on mothers and their babies with the theme “Hepatitis-Free Future”.
In 2020 this year, WHO choose the theme “Find the Missing Millions” whereby 290 million people living with viral Hepatitis unaware worldwide, sources disclosed.
He also advised Ghanaians on some foods that can harm the body system when taking in excessive alcohol particularly those with Hepatitis status. Mr Abubakar continued that Hepatitis B patients should avoid food and intake like local alcoholic gin, fresh meat etc.
According to WHO report, over 600,000 people die yearly through Hepatitis B virus.
