People’s Redemption Alliance(PRA) with support from Zoomlion has organized a clean-up exercise in the famous Agbogbloshie market here in Accra.

The exercise form vision to make president Akufo-Addo’s government agenda of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa realistic.

Speaking to the media at the sidelines of the exercise, a founding member of the group, Mr. Ntim Agyarko said the exercise said it is the dream of PRA to clean and maintain sanity in the country’s market centres.

He said it is their topmost priority at People’s Redemption Alliance to make Accra one of the cleanest cities in Africa by the year 2025.

According to him efforts to keep cities and towns tidy is a collective responsibility that should involve all stakeholders, including the private sector.

To him, for Ghana to make up to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(SDG 6) which talks about universal access to clean water and sanitation, there is the need for the National House of Chiefs, the Chief Imam, and the Christian Council to join forces together to help our market centres.

The Executive Secretary of the group, Appiah Kubi urged the media to use their various platforms to educate people on good sanitation practices and also consider naming and shaming of people engaged in unhealthy sanitation practices in communities.

According to him, no nation had witnessed significant development, particularly in the area of sanitation, without the collective involvement of all stakeholders.

He added that the exercise will be organized every two weeks in various market centres
