The Ghana Journalist Association lead by its President, Mr. Affail Monney has congratulated Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on his new appointment as the Inspector General of police.
DCOP, Dr. Akuffo Dampare on Friday, October 8th, 2021 was sworn in as the substantive Inspector General of Police after taken the mandate from James Opong Boanuh making him the 23rd IGP in the history of the Ghana Police service.
In a press release, GJA has decided to make Dr. Akuffo Dampare its honorary member due to his infectious humility, professional discipline, discipline coupled with the depth of confidence in him as verbalizing by President Akufo-Addo.
Mr Affail Monney called on all journalists to maximally support Dr. Akuffo Dampare to succeed since he is one of them because his success will reduce the crime rate in the country.
He is of the view that the appointment of the New IGP will not only ignite hope of the public in the police but more importantly give criminals the creeps in the sense that their days are numbered.
George Akuffo Dampare served in different command and staff positions including Aide-de-camp to the Vice President, Director General (Finance), Director General (Welfare), Director General (ICT), Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College, Accra Regional Police Commander, and Director General (Operations).
On October 8th, 2021, George Akuffo Dampare was sworn in as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service.
George Akuffo Dampare joined the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in December 1990 at age 20 and rose through the ranks to become Commissioner of Police (COP) 24 years later at age 44 in 2014, the rank he held until his appointment
