The Chiefs, elders of Ada traditional council, and some unemployed youth yesterday hit the streets of Ada to show their displeasure of lack of development and the posture of a self-styled Libiwornor who is retiring the development in the Ada state.
In a press briefing after they presented a petition to the Ada West DEC Hon Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi, the Mankralo of Ada, Nene Agudey Obichere III, called on the government to aid Dr. Daniel Mckorley(McDan) and his company, Electrochem Ghana Ltd to commence work on the Songor Lagoon for Mass production of salt to create employment for the youths of Ada state.
According to the Omankrado, coming to existence of Electrochem will not only create employment for the youth but also a source of revenue for the local assembly and the Ada Traditional council as well.
He cautioned all the traditional rulers to support this good cause not to behave like the suspended Nomo Ametey Apedo Ayornu whose aim is to retired the development of Ada.
He added that, the Songor Lagoon will produce world class salt.
On the side of the women, the divisional queen mother Naa Naa Adiki Mayi Adi also spoke on behalf of the women saying, the establishment of the Electrochem company to mine salt will create an avenue for women to, directly and indirectly, make income from the company.
She also pleaded with the government to consider the women and children and support the electrochem company to start processing.
The leqder of the youth association Mr Isaac Otu Boah also outlined some benefits they the youths will gain from Songor Lagoon when government allow McDan and his company Electrochem to continue with their works at the Songor Lagoon.
