Next Tv with a goal of helping in Ghana’s development by empowering the next generation has partnered with the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform to project the Sustainable Development Goals in Ghana.
The intension was revealed by Mr. George F. H. T. Konu who represented management of the Kasoa based Television Station at the Steering Committee meeting of the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform held at Pen Plus Byte in Osu.
In an interview with SOKY NEWS, Mr. George F. H. T. Konu Said the station believes in empowering the youth who are the future leaders of the nation, and joining hands with the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform will help them achieve their goal by playing active roles in all the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
According to him, their medium will be used to inform, entertain and educate the youth so that the next generation of Ghana will be empowered.
“Partnering with the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform is a stepping stone for us help develop our dear nation” he said.
“We strongly believe in all the seventeen goals of the Sustainable Development Goals which we are going to play active roles in projecting the goals with our medium” he added.
Responding to the call, a Co – Chair of the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform, Mrs. Joyce Lanyoh thanked Next Tv for the partnership.
According to her the media is a key component of their work and there is nothing they can do without the media, because the media is the mouth piece of the people, voice of the voiceless, therefore the call of partnership is on the right path.
On the other hand, Mrs Lanyoh threw much light on the Sustainable Development Goal four (Quality Education),for which she is a convener, saying they are looking at the various targets in education including reading, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and also looking forward to project the “all-inclusive” education program where they see to it that every child especially children with disability is educated.
She added that, the challenges in the education sector is huge and even though the government is doing it’s part by implementing policies the improve the sector and the Ghana Civil Society Organizations on the Goal four (Quality Education) platform are there to help in achieving the agenda and drawing the government’s attention to some of the challenges of the sector.
She then advised that other Civil Society Organizations, the private sector and individuals in the various communities have key roles to play in the development process just as Next Tv has started since the development process is not a burden for only the government to carry.
In conclusion, Mrs. Joyce Lanyoh said the doors of the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform, is always open to all organizations who wants to be members of the platform.
“Our doors are always open to new members and to be a member, you should have a registered organization under the laws of Ghana, working in one of the developing areas, and registered with the Municipal or District Assembly in which your organization is located.
Once that is done, contact our secretariat for review and once that is done, you will be added to the platform” she explained.
On his part, a member of the Ghana Civil Society Organizations Platform, on goal 7,13 & 15, Mr. Chibeze Ezekiel said it is about time we making keeping our environment and water bodies clean because soon, countries will be fighting over water.
