On his part, the South – East ( Accra, Volta, Eastern) Mobile money (Momo) implementation manager of MTN, Mr Eric Yeboah Asiamah, urged Ghanaians to be extra careful of fraudsters when it comes mobile money.
According to him, they realized that a lot of people have fallen victim of such scandalous act.
“Every customer is free to call our customer care line if they doubt a call received from these people to find out whether the call is from MTN or not.
In as much as we know how they operate, they still keep on duping people of their hard earned money. They mostly call people and say they have mistakenly sent money to them and ask them to send the money back. Some go to the extent of crying which is
pretenceto make you feel sorry for them. So if care is not taken, you will fall prey of their dubious act and later end up crying” he reveled.
The mobile money implementation manager furthered on to urge the general public not to meet people who call claiming they are from MTN half way to redeem a prize they claim they have won.
“If someone wins an award from MTN, the person will be called to come to the MTN office. It’s very important to change your pin codes often because friends and close relatives can secretly steal your pin code and withdraw money from your mobile money wallet” he said.
